“We had a fabulous experience with Sounds Abound. Booking was made extremely easy and we were able to do it all over the phone, which was good since my now husband and I live in North Carolina. We knew exactly which DJ we wanted because he came so highly recommended from friends, and luckily he was not booked. Matt Ammons did an AMAZING job with our wedding. He not only worked our reception but also played the music for our outdoor ceremony. We did not give him a whole lot to work with, as we are not that musically inclined, but instead told him the mood we wanted to create and let him run with it. I took forever to decide on the important songs (first dances,processional, recessional, etc.) but he was so patient and didn’t mind that I got him the songs a week before the wedding. “Going through the planning process, selecting the right DJ was extremely important to us. We wanted our guests to walk away from our wedding having had the time of their lives and exhausted from dancing all night. Matt exceeded all expectations. We chose Matt based upon his outstanding reputation and video portfolio- both do not compare to how he truly performs. When we first sat down with Matt with our song requests, he more got a feeling for the kind of couple we are and the type of entertainment we were looking for. We gave him full control to adapt our requests to play to the crowd and do what we hoped he does best. While he honored most of our requests, many songs we did not select- and were thrilled, thinking we never knew we had wanted that song! We danced the entire night- most guests were on their feet the whole night including those we had never seen dance before… He did play to the mood and allowed for appropriate down time; his transitions were impeccable no matter shifting the mood down or keeping a good vibe going. Guests are still talking about our wedding and we know we have Matt to thank. We also used Sounds Abound lighting (went perfectly, they did a great job!) and the traditional photo booth. The photo booth staff was great. We supplied our own guest book and props, but they were happy to use our materials. Our guest book is now a hilarious and sentimental reminder of our day and the staff helped it to come together beautifully. Thank you for making our day so perfect!! “Originally, I was hesitant to use a DJ at my wedding because I love live music and I have been to so many weddings with cheesy DJs who negatively impacted the reception. I wasn’t a big fan of the idea that a stranger would be “running the show” so to speak on one of the biggest days of my life. Sounds Abound and more specifically Matt Ammons changed my entire opinion about wedding DJs. I cannot tell you how many people came up to me after the wedding and asked me how I found the DJ. Matt played the perfect mix of songs for the young, old and everything in between (even some ethnic music for the grooms family.) He kept the dance floor full the entire evening and was fun but extremely professional as he guided us through all of the “reception events.” Even my mom said that after 30+ years of attending weddings, she has never seen so many people dancing from the very first song until the last. Matt also made sure to get in all of our “must plays” and did not play a single song off of our “do not play list,” which I know is often not the case. Matt also consistently checked in with me throughout the evening to make sure things were going the way I wanted them too. It was great to have the opportunity to work with someone who’s number one priority was to make sure that I was happy. The online planning tool Sounds Abound offers was also fantastic since we live in Boston and our wedding was in Chicago. It allowed us be hands on with the music selection, no matter where we were. On a side note, I think it is great that you have video clips of the DJs online, but do not let people “crash” weddings to check our the DJ. At first I was disappointed that I couldn’t see your DJs in action, but realized how upset I would be if someone came to “check out” the DJ at my wedding. I would definitely recommend Sounds Abound and Matt to any friends or family for any kind of event.”
